文书类别
美国高中申请文书主要包括推荐信、短问答、父母陈述及文章写作四个类别，下文给大家分享申请文书各类别的字数、要求等：
推荐信(Recommendation)
要求较为固定，通常情况下需要就读学校的数学老师/英语老师/班主任/年级主任或校长各写一封。有些学校会额外要求再提供一封老师或着教练的个人推荐信。
短问答(Short Answer)
格式最为简单，100多个英文单词即可,包括申请者的教育背景、兴趣爱好、价值观念、目标计划等。学校从这些信息中可以判定该学生对于出国留学是否做好了充分的准备，能否适应美国高中的学习和生活环境等。
例：1) What reading have you enjoyed most in the past year and why?在过去的一年中你最喜欢读的是什么书？为什么？
2) Please note anything more you would like us to know about you. 请列出你希望招生办公室知道的关于你的任何事情。
父母陈述(Parent Statement)
此部分的主要目的是从父母的角度了解学生的情况，以及了解家庭背景、 教育理念、文化信仰等。
例：1) What qualities of character and mind in your daughter or son most delight you?你们的女儿或儿子的什么特点或品质使你们引以为豪？
2) What has posed the biggest academic and/or extracurricular challenge for your child?你们孩子过去在学业和课外活动中最大的挑战是什么？
文章写作(Essay Writing)
对中学生的要求一般是写四五百字。美国学校通过学生的Essay,既要了解学生的英文书面表达能力，又要查看了解学生的思想和思维，学生一定要认真对待。
例：Please choose one of these statements and then write a 250—500 word response to it.请从下面的题目中选择一个，用250—500字回答。
a. Describe a person you admire or who has influenced you a great deal.描述一个你非常钦佩并且对你很有影响的人。
b. What makes you the interesting person that you are? (Be sure to include the qualities you like best about yourself.)什么特点使你自己成为一个这样有吸引力的人？请概括你最喜欢的自己的优点。
c.Explain the Impact of an event or activity that has created a change in your life or in your way of thinking.介绍一个对你的生活和思维方式产生巨大变化的事情或活动。
文书题目分类
文书题目分类有助于申请前期挖掘学生信息、策划活动、提升背景。于是我们硏究了所有一流寄宿学校所有的文书题目，总结出了九个维度以助于申请前期挖掘学生信息、策划活动、提升背景。
—维：People(人)
这类文书通常会问到对学生影响最大的人、最崇拜的人或者学生认为成功的人。这类题目的共性是可以准备一个通用的人作为例子，无论文书怎么问，都可以通过这个例子做变通，来创作出符合要求的文书。
例：1）How do you define success? Describe someone you know who best lives up to your definition.（St. Paul* s School）
2）Describe a person you admire or who has influenced you a great deal.（Lawrenceville School/ Loomis Chaffee/Emma Willard/ Saint James）
二维:Hobby (爱好)
这类题目包括学生的兴趣爱好或喜爱的学科及其发展过程、如何喜爱上这项活动及原因、活动过程中难忘的经历、为什么想要继续发展这项特长或者为什么放弃、展望未来如何在该方面继续发展。需要学生提供一项或多项兴趣、特长的发展过程以及未来打算。
例：1）Write on a topic or activity, about which you are passionate, and describe how you have developed knowledge or skills in that area.（Phillips Exeter Academy）
2）Where do you find beauty in your life? For example, you may find beauty in the pattern of numbers in a math equation, in the tempo of chirping crickets, or In the smell of your old baseball glove.（St. Paul’s School）
三维：Challenge/ Adversity/ Failure （挑战/挫折/失败）
这类文书题目会问到学生曾经遇到的挫折、面对的挑战（挑战权威、挑战世俗、挑战自己）以及如何处理这些情况，遇到的失败以及从失败中学到的教训,如果遇到某种特定的棘手情形会如何解决等。
例：1）Describe a moment when you felt challenged, successful, or overwhelmed, and how you handled it.（Phillips Exeter Academy）
2）At St. Paul’s school, we believe that learning from mistakes is an essential part of growing up. Tell us about a time when you stumbled in life. How did you handle it? What did you learn?（St. Paul’s School）
四维:Media （媒体）
学生最喜欢或对自己影响最大的一本书（音乐、电影…）或者书籍/电影中人物相关的问题。
例：1）Tell us about a character in a book to whom you particularly relate, or describe a situation in a book with which you closely identify.（Concord Academy）
2）What book have you found interesting in the last year? What appealed to you about this book?What piece of music would you select to serve as the soundtrack to a movie about your life?（St. George* s School）
五维：Dream （梦想）
这类话题会问到学生对人生未来的计划、有怎样的梦想、想要完成梦想自己还需要在哪些方面努力等。
例：1）What have you done – or what do you do – to make your life better?（Groton School）
2）If an alien lands in your backyard, what three key points of advice would you give it about succeeding in our world?（St. Mark* s School）
六维：Background （背景）
背景考察学生的家庭背景、成长社区背景、教育背景、特殊背景（海外经历…）等，各种背景如何塑造成现在的你和你身上的特质。
例：1）Tell us about your neighborhood and how it has shaped you.（Phillips Exeter Academy）
2）Write an essay about a personal trait or value with which you identify. Tell us how this trait or value came to be or has been developed over time.（Choate Rosemary Hall）
七维：School Related （学校相关）
学校相关问题会问到学生原来的学校、现在就读的学校和未来（将要申请）的学校的看法，自己能为学校带来什么，希望学校能为自己提供什么以及理想中的学校。
例：1）What in particular do you like about Groton?（Groton school）
2）Why is attending the Hockaday School important to you?（Hockaday School）
八维：Leadership （领导力）
领导力是很多学校重视的一个重要特质，需要学生举几个过去活动中展现自己领导力的例子，或者如果学校重视领导力,你打算怎样发展自己。
例：1）Describe examples of your leadership experience in- which you have significantly influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.（Phillips Exeter Academy）
2）Please describe any special recognitions, awards, achievements or leadership positions of which you are especially proud.（St. George* s School）
九维:Creativity （创造力）
创造力同样也是很重要的特质,需要学生举几个展现自己创造力的例子，以及如果学校重视创造力，打算如何发展自己。
例：At Choate, we value creative ideas and thought. Please share yours by answering the following question： tell us the title of your first published book and share its synopsis as it would appear on the back cover.（Choate Rosemary Hall）
